April 2024 in Review

“Hello, everyone! Ms. Wheelchair Ohio 2024 – Gabby Kozinski here. To be honest, April has been a little chaotic for me, but nonetheless, I have been able to get through it…

On April 2, I had the opportunity to speak to the local Rotary Club about the organization, my platform, and what I wanted to see happen with the community. They were generous enough to donate to me for my national competition in August.

Gabby, wearing her crown and sash, is next to a person holding a microphone. They sit in front of a gold and navy flag that reads, "Rotary Club Bucyrus Ohio."

On April 3, I was proudly featured on an Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) podcast called “Voices for Voices” with Justin Hayes, where I got to talk about the process of the competition and my platform, along with the organization. Listen to it here.

The Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities logo is the state of Ohio outlined in red with "Ohio" in blue script through the center, next to which reads, "Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities."

On April 21, I was surprised by the Bratwurst Festival Queen and Brattie with a $100 check for my national competition, which was also my birthday.

Gabby sits in a recliner between the Bratwurst Festival Queen and Brattie the mascot. They hold a large $100 check presented to the Ms. Wheelchair Ohio Organization.

On April 27, my local Special Olympics basketball team had me recite the Special Olympics oath, which was really cool.

The Special Olympics logo shows five red figures in a three-dimensional circle, next to which reads, "Special Olympics Unified Sports."

Finally, on April 29, I gratefully had the opportunity to speak to the preschoolers at Good Hope Christian school about the competition and the importance of inclusion.

Stay tuned for next month’s blog.”
